I made up some paper mache paste from the Aves powdered mache material, and treated it like water based clay, roughing in the structure of the fleshy parts of the head. I did this directly over the skull. I took some space-filling materials like newspaper, wrapped tight with tape, and filled the torso. I sculpted a very rough torso surface over this with the mache. At certain points as I progressed, I put a light coat of red paint on some areas to determine if they would look right.
